Overheating Risk Analysis
(CIBSE TM52 &TM59)

The risk of overheating in buildings, both residential and commercial, is becoming more common due to methods construction, of increasing insulation performances and low air permeability rates required to meet increasing CO2 emission and energy performance standards. With increasing summer temperatures with climate change, over heating is a major cause of discomfort which contributes towards productivity and health, whilst also increasing the energy demand for cooling and ventilation within buildings.

Building regulations Part O Compliance

Building Regulations have as of 2021 introduced Approved Document Part O which now includes a requirement to demonstrate mitigation measures taken to reduce the risk of overheating.

Dynamic thermal modelling Overheating Compliance

Using the 3D dynamic thermal modelling approach offers designers a greater flexibility in design and can take into account greater levels of details that help to mitigate the effects of overheating.

Green Castle Energy undertake detailed dynamic simulation modelling, under various thermal comfort standards to inform overheating risk and thermal comfort levels. These reports can also be used in support of BREEAM and Part O planning applications.
